Creating an account

Steps to create an account

  1. Enter your phone number. This number must be able to receive SMS messages and cannot be already used by an existing Benny customer.

  2. Verify the SMS code sent to your phone number to confirm it is yours.

  3. Enter your email. Benny does not require that you verify your email when creating an account. You can verify it later from the app settings screen to ensure that no one else can add to their account.

  4. Enter your zip code. This lets Benny provide you with location-specific offers. You can update this if needed later by contacting support.

  5. You're done!

Do I need a phone number to create an account?

A valid phone number that can receive SMS messages is required to create an account. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any exceptions.

Trouble receiving text SMS or email code

If you did not receive an SMS code to verify your phone number, the best thing to do is wait for a few minutes and try again.

We've seen customers run into this when they receive a delay in receiving the first code and request multiple new codes. Knowing which code to enter is challenging when this happens, as only the most recent code is accepted!

We cannot manually send or verify any security code for security reasons, so to fix this, we recommend that you:

  • If an email code, verify that the correct email was entered, and check your spam folder.

  • Wait up to 5 minutes to receive a code by phone or email. Don't request another code until you have waited for the first code to arrive.

  • Enter it after waiting to ensure the new code is the most recent. If this still does not work, try again after another 30 minutes. There could be a temporary outage with our email-sending service, so bear with us. You may have to wait up to an hour.

Logging into your account

To log into your Benny account, use the phone number or email that you used to sign up. There is no username or password to log in to Benny—you simply enter the code sent to you!

My phone number changed. Do you know how I can log in?

If your phone number changed, you can instead log in with the email you used when signing up. A code will be sent to this email that you must confirm to sign in.

How can I update my phone number?

You can update your phone number from the settings screen (Click the "Person" icon in the top right of any tab, then "Account settings" -> "Update phone number"). You'll need to confirm a code sent over text SMS to your new number to update.

How can I update my email?

You can update your email from the settings screen (Click the "Person" icon in the top right of any tab, then "Account settings" -> "Update email"). You'll need to confirm the code sent to your new email address to update your email.

I've lost access to both my phone number and email

If you've lost access to both your phone number and email and are a Benny cardholder, please reach out to support, as we can use the information from your Benny card account to confirm your identity.

If you are not a Benny cardholder, we cannot confirm your identity, and for security reasons, you must create a new account. Unfortunately, to keep all Benny accounts secure, we cannot make any exceptions to this for non-Benny cardholders 😦.

Logging out of your account

You can log out of your account from the settings screen. Click the "Person" icon in the top right of any tab, then "Log out".

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from the settings screen (Click the "Person" icon in the top right of any tab, then "Account settings" -> "Delete account"). Deleting an account is irreversible, and any cash back that hasn't been cashed out will be lost.

I am unable to log in to my account, as I was banned for fraudulent behavior

You can be banned from Benny and prevented from logging in for fraudulent behavior. If you think this is a mistake, you can reach out to support for an additional account review.
